[Poll #1225745]

And, no, you don't get any more details. ;)

Null poll: parameters insufficient for useful advice.

Is there a higher likelihood of even more pleasant outcomes?

Despite my agreeing with [livejournal.com profile] deepthink (Magic 8-Ball = poor therapist/decision maker), ultimately, you have to weigh making others happy with making yourself happy.

You've got on one side things that are just annoying that you do despite not wanting to because everyone else wants to and you want to be with them. Like say, see a movie everyone is raving about but you are "meh" about. Suck up the two hours of "meh-ness" and everyone is happy and you got to socialize.

If you want to cut your hair or get a tattoo I think that's your decision no matter who it makes happy or not (including your life partner). It's your body. :)

If it's something deeper or more life altering, ultimately you have to please yourself and/or compromise with your future partner. Things like moving to another state--that's really about you and Patrick, not anyone else. (I'm just making up "big" decisions, not saying that's what I think you're going after.) Having kids or not having kids--again, that's up to you and Patrick to work out, no one else has any business and it's not your place to make them happy. Going back to school/getting a new job/whatever, those kind of things, again, shouldn't depend on how your family and friends feel, only you and your partner.

That's what I think without knowing details.

I answered "good idea" because it's obviously on your mind enough to make this poll. I find it's usually just better to do it and be done with it. Otherwise you're totally just going to keep thinking about it. However, maybe there's a way to do it that will have a better outcome?

Getting a genital piercing always seems like a good idea at the time, but it will only end in tears!

You could run off to Grenada and join the Polynesian circus, but I don't think you've mastered lion taming quite yet.

There wasn't a Polynesian circus in Grenada when I lived there!

Depends. What's the likelihood of seriously unpleasant outcomes? How good would the (few) potential pleasant outcomes be? Hard to say one way or another without a good sense of the scale of risk/reward.

There's also the question of how much you'll regret NOT doing whatever it is, and how that unpleasantness down the line adds to the equation. There are a lot of things that I wish I'd just gone ahead and done but I was too afraid to at the time- now I think maybe it would've been worth it.

Of course, I'm one of the world's most indecisive people, so maybe I shouldn't be answering.

snausages are winning, because you can never go wrong with snack food! Okay I guess you can, since it's delicious at the moment you eat it and then you pay for it later when it gives you an upset tummy or a sugar crash.. so hmm...

oh wait, what were we talking about? *hugs tight*
